Certification & Audit Consulting Services
There are 2 main certifications utilized and obtained by Ontario Employers related to Safety Standards
The ISO 45001 Standard which is typically aligned and works in conjunction with the National COR(TM) Standard.
The Certificate of Recognition program in Ontario is facilitated and governed by IHSA (Infrastructure Health and Safety Association).
Certified companies are in full compliance with OHSA and usually exceed the requirements for due diligence. These companies often have fewer worker compensation claims, and as a result enjoy reduced rates or increased rebates for WSIB and insurance policies. In Ontario, a significant and steadily increasing number of infrastructure procurements now require companies to have this certification as part of the pre-qualification process for contracts.
At Providence, we can provide all of the following consulting services to help a company with its preparations to obtain certification or transition to the new 2020 standard:
• Reviewing and revising Health and Safety (HS) program documentation and addendums, including all applicable forms
• Assisting in document control and tracking related to company-specific HS program(s)
• Creating action plans with timelines & schedules for the audit process
• Providing training for company personnel to meet OHSA regulations specific to the HS program and COR(TM) requirements
• Developing/maintaining hazard assessments for all tasks & activities
• Identifying PPE requirements & documenting program addendums

• Coordinating the selection, training and implementation of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) and project reps as required by the type of organization and its projects

• Training an internal auditor on the process of completing and submitting the Internal Audit
• Developing a maintenance process to ensure certification remains in good standing
